7 Best Bikes for Uber Eats, DoorDash and GrubHub in 2025

a boy delivering food on a bike

After investing more than 25 hours in research, I can confidently say that the best bike for deliveries is the RadRunner 3 Plus – a powerful electric bike with a 750-watt motor and a 45-mile range.

What makes a good bike for food delivery?

Durability and Reliability: Look for a bike built to withstand frequent use in various weather conditions. A durable frame and high-quality components are essential.

Cargo Capacity: Choose a bike with options for carrying food, such as a sturdy rear rack, front basket, or panniers. Some bikes are specifically designed for cargo, offering more space and better weight distribution.

Speed and Efficiency: A bike with multiple gears is ideal, especially for navigating hills and accelerating quickly in urban environments. Road bikes or hybrid bikes are often good choices for their balance of speed and comfort.

Security Features: As food delivery bikes are often parked in public spaces, invest in a bike with built-in security features like a sturdy lock or a system to secure components like wheels and seats.

Electric Assist: An electric bike (e-bike) can be a good option, especially for covering longer distances or hilly areas, as it reduces physical strain and can increase delivery speed.

Best Overall: RadRunner 3 Plus

Type: Electric Cargo Bike | Frame Material: Aluminum | Range: 45 miles | Motor Power: 750W

Whatโ€™s good ๐Ÿ‘

  1. Powerful Motor: The 750W Direct Drive Hub Motor provides a significant amount of power, enabling a smooth riding experience on flat terrains.
  2. Extended Range: With a commendable range of 45 miles per charge, this bike is well-suited for longer commutes or extended rides without the worry of frequent recharging.
  3. Comfort for Long Hours: The ergonomic design of the bike ensures a comfortable ride even during long working hours, making it a reliable choice for daily commuting or prolonged use.
  4. Stable Fat Tires: The fat tires on this bike enhance stability and capability on various terrains, providing a safer and more comfortable ride.

Whatโ€™s not so good ๐Ÿ‘Ž

  1. Lower Torque: The bike exhibits less torque from a standstill and during climbing, which might pose challenges in hilly terrains or situations requiring quick acceleration.
  2. Limited Customization: The bike is available in only one size and two color options (grey and green), which restricts personalization and might not accommodate potential buyers’ diverse size and color preferences.

Let’s point out the obvious. If you ride an electric bike to deliver food, you will make more money because you will make more deliveries. It’s as simple as that. And this RadRunner 3 Plus is the best for the job.

For the price of $2,299, you get a lot! With a powerful 750W direct-drive hub motor, puncture-resistant fat tires, and a durable front-suspension fork, you can tackle hills with ease using the 7-speed drivetrain and 45-mile range.

The third-generation RadRunner Plus is perfect for food delivery. It’s a super-reliable, quick electric bike that rides smoothly and comfortably on asphalt.

Runner-Up: Yuba Kombi Compact Cargo Bike

Type: Urban Cargo Bike | Frame Material: Steel | Gears: 9-Speed | MSRP: $999

Whatโ€™s good ๐Ÿ‘

  1. Pizza Bag Usage: The bike has a feature for using a pizza bag, providing a convenient solution for food delivery personnel or anyone needing to transport items securely.
  2. Sturdy Double Kickstand: The massive double kickstand ensures that the bike remains stable and upright when parked, which is a big plus for loading/unloading or stationary tasks.
  3. Quality Drivetrain: Equipped with a 1×9 Shimano drivetrain, the bike provides a good range of gears for different terrains, ensuring a smooth and efficient riding experience.
  4. Fully Equipped: With lights and fenders included, this bike is ready for various weather and lighting conditions, enhancing safety and convenience for the rider.
  5. Affordable price: This is one of the most affordable cargo bikes on the market ( $999 )

Whatโ€™s not so good ๐Ÿ‘Ž

  1. Lower Speed: This bike is a bit slower than bikes with 700c wheels, which might be a concern for those looking for a faster commuting or recreational riding experience.

Yuba Kombi Step-Through is different. Itโ€™s an urban utility bike with some unique features and parts. So what makes it suitable for food delivery? Well, letโ€™s start with the fact that Yuba Kombi could be fitted with a bamboo utility deck (ย sold separatelyย ) that provides a sturdy platform for cargo. It also comes equipped with a double kickstand, front and rear LED battery-powered lights, and a front fender with a rear wheel skirt.ย

Priced at $999, the Yuba Kombi is a budget pick for food delivery couriers. For that price, you get an excellent 1×9 Shimano drivetrain, consisting of a Shimano Altus SL-M2010 trigger shifter and a Shimano RD-M2000 rear derailleur. A 9-speed drivetrain provides just enough gear range for most riders and terrains.ย

The brakes are Tektro mechanical discs with enough stopping power to stop the heavy bike ( 50 lbs ), even if youโ€™re highly loaded with deliveries. 24-inch wheels are big enough to ride quickly in traffic, and Kenda 24 x 2.4 in. tires have a good grip on almost any paved surface.

The most significant benefit of this bike over regular bikes is that you can use the pizza bag, which allows larger, flatter delivers to lay flat and be protected during delivery. That is much more comfortable than the Uber Eats Insulated Backpack.

Whatโ€™s not so good ๐Ÿ‘Ž

  1. High Price Point: The significant investment required due to its eye-watering price tag ( $3,699.00 ) may deter budget-conscious buyers or those looking for more affordable alternatives.

If youโ€™re stuck in a small apartment but still want to work as a bike food delivery guy, you must buy a folding bike. However, folding bikes are generally challenging to ride and slow due to the small diameter of the wheels. Even a legendary folding bike like the BROMPTON M6L canโ€™t keep up with 700c hybrids or road bikes. Hereโ€™s the solution: a folding electric bike like the Tern Vektron S10.

The bike’s motor is probably the best on the market right now – mid-drive Bosch Performance with 65-newton meters and a pedal-assist range of 34-68 miles. Yes, itโ€™s a costly bike at $3,699, but what you get for the money is a spectacular class 1 ride capable of pedal assist up to 20 mph. Whatโ€™s more, this battery charges quickly. It takes 2.5-4 hours to charge fully.

Tern Vektron S10 rides like a premium high-end electric bike and achieves amazing dynamics on the streets. Itโ€™s also one of the few electric folding bikes with a built-in rear rack, which means pizza boxes – a lot of them!

The bike’s drivetrain is 1×10 Shimano Deore Shadow+, which is more than enough for climbing big hills or riding at high speeds. The braking system is Magura MT4 hydraulic discโ€”a precise, powerful, and silent system that we love. Itโ€™s also one of the easiest to use with just two fingers.ย

What do you think about the folding mechanism? Well, itโ€™s probably one of the best on the market, on par with Bromptonโ€™s. It takes just a few seconds to fold and unfold the bike. Youโ€™ll love it if you live in a small condo.

Best for Style: Cannondale Bad Boy 3

Type: Hybrid Bike | Frame Material: Aluminum | Gears: 16-Speed | MSRP: $1,000

  5. Integrated Fork Light: The bike light integrated into the fork enhances visibility and safety during low-light conditions or nighttime riding.

Whatโ€™s not so good ๐Ÿ‘Ž

  1. High Price Point: The premium price tag might deter many potential buyers, especially those on a tighter budget or unwilling to make a significant investment.
  2. Lefty Rigid Fork Marketing Gimmick: The Lefty Rigid fork, while marketed as a feature, may not offer substantial benefits and might be seen more as a marketing gimmick than a functional advantage.

If you don’t love the name given to this bike by Cannondale, what’s wrong with you? Of course, you can just read the fine print distributed by this company. You will learn that this model is being marketed as a “unisex” bike ready to accept any rider regardless of sexual preference.

Are you left-handed and constantly feeling like a forgotten child? It could perk you up to learn that the Bad Boy 3 has a stiff Lefty Light Pipe fork for agile performance; the tires never met a surface they couldn’t grip, and at around 26 pounds, it’s light enough to lift but solid enough to go the distance.

If you believe one can’t have too many gears, this bike comes with 16, so you can zip along knowing your ride will respond to the traffic effortlessly. If potholes are the bane of your existence every time you load up fragile meals that need to be kept as stable as possible, you might think of building a shrine to the big-volume tires on 650b wheels that excel at gripping corners.

These tires can help tackle shocks other tires couldn’t survive.

Engineered especially for urban cycling, this bad boy needs no suspension system to perform like a champ. The ETB Byway 650b x 40mm tires, alloy seat post, Cannondale Urban saddle, and pedals are all coordinated for the most responsive ride yet. Would you expect anything less than Shimano shifters, hydraulic disc brakes, rear cogs, and derailleurs?

  3. Very Affordable: With its attractive price tag, this bike is a budget-friendly option for those looking to venture into road biking without making a hefty investment.

Whatโ€™s not so good ๐Ÿ‘Ž

  1. Unsmooth Gear Shifting: The bike falls short in delivering smooth gear shifting, which might hinder a seamless riding experience, especially during transitions on varying terrains.
  2. Heavy Weight: Weighing in at 33.5 lbs, this bike is on the heavier side, which could make handling and transporting it more cumbersome.
  3. Heavy Steel Frame: The heavy steel frame contributes to the bike’s overall weight and may also impact its speed, making it a slower option compared to bikes with lighter frames.

After all, this sophisticated bike looks fantastic, but the price tag range (between $300 and $399) may be a typographical error. It’s not.

Yes, the EURXC550 comes with 21 speeds and 700C wheels, just like other road bikes on the market. And yes, this ride is engineered with dual disc brakes. It’s all good. And you’re the recipient of this generosity.

Unlike other models profiled here, this model comes in only two sizes, but they more than cover anyone whose height falls between 5 feet, 5 inches, and 6 feet, 1 inch. At around 46 pounds, this is no lightweight ride, but that’s fine with you because you have no intention of carrying it around anyway.ย

Further, if you own a toolbox but prefer to keep your hands clean, you’ll be happy to learn that the EURXC550 will arrive on your doorstep at 85 percent assembled. Your job is to install the front wheel, pedals, handlebar, and seat, then fill the tires with air according to the instructions included and the tools provided.

That noted, the manufacturer urges purchasers to pay particular attention to tuning the brake system.

Whatโ€™s not so good ๐Ÿ‘Ž

  1. No disc brakes: The lack of disc brakes can compromise the bikeโ€™s stopping power, especially in wet and muddy conditions. This can affect the riderโ€™s safety and the bikeโ€™s performance.
  2. Uncomfortable handlebar grips: Uncomfortable grips can make long rides unpleasant and may lead to hand fatigue or discomfort. They may need replacement or additional padding for better comfort.

Schwinn Discover is one of ourย favorite commuter bikes and an excellent option for food deliveries. This new Discover 2 model is even better, with a few upgraded parts here and there. Schwinn Discover is priced at $519.99, which is acceptable at todayโ€™s post-COVID standards. For that, you get a great Schwinn aluminum frame with excellent commuter geometry.

On top of the frame, you get a few perks, like the included suspension fork and seat post that provide unmatched comfort on bumpy roads. Discover 2 features a rear carrier for convenient cargo space and fenders so that you can arrive nice and clean to your college campus.

  1. In my opinion, the best bicycles for deliveries would be the traditional English type roadsters. In Japan & Malaysia these bikes also come with the option of having a very large rack. Many of these bikes have either 3-speed or 5-speed gears and drum brakes. The dynamo-powered headlamps are also bright and powerful. In many parts of the world the bikes come with a double stand on the rear wheel, making it easier to park without having your cargo fall over. The 28″ wheels are also delightful when you are going uphill with a heavy load. And I’ve carried lots of heavy stuff on them. Well, then again that’s my opinion, and I have never tried the bikes you talked about.

  2. I completely agree with you, Farouq. Traditional English roadster bikes are great for food delivery ( with some adjustments ). But electric bikes are also fantastic for this type of job, and I bet we will see more and more of them on the roads soon.

  3. Switching to an e-bike after 10+ years as a courier was a game-changer for me. In my experience, the best options are e-bikes with replaceable batteries, so you can have 2 to 3 for the entire day. Alek, do you think we will soon see electric bikes with a range of 100+ miles?

  4. Hey Rubin, I absolutely agree that e-bikes are game changers. I can recommend you Riese & Muller Superdelite which is a bike with almost 140 miles range according the the manufacturer. The thing is it’s super expensive at around $9,000.
